day 34: it's okay to say "no"

hello hello hello!! today i'll be talking a bit about saying "no".

sometimes i struggle with saying "no" to things that i don't want to do or it's just me trying to be nice. but recently, i've been a bit more okay with setting that boundary.

for example, if someone is talking about a certain topic that you are uncomfortable with, it's more than okay to say no, change the topic, or simply just walk away.

a little while ago, i was at a birthday party where someone started talking about ICE, and while it is an ongoing problem, i was uncomfortable. because of this, i went with my best friend to the other room and we talked about something else. eventually the group migrated to where we were and we started another activity.

small things like this will help you build up to setting boundaries with larger things like saying "no" to someone venting to you about a certain topic if it makes you uncomfortable or puts a weight on your shoulders that you don't want to carry anymore.

saying "no" shouldn't feel scary because it prevents you from being in a situation that you don't want to be in. yes, there are times where it might be better to break outside of your comfort zone, but don't be afraid to say "no".

if you liked this one, please check out day 6, which is "the power of 'yes'". thank you so much for reading and i'll catch you on the next one!!

don't wish for it, work for it.
